Before Heaven
Morning rain.
Beating out steady rhythms
on my window pane
The chilled wind
makes me shiver.
Idle talks.
Left to linger
Six-thirty
and the sky is here.
Tattered paperbacks.
Tossed carelessly
on wooden racks
Honeyed tea
still left on the counter.
Walks in parks.
Scarlet hues
Liquid sunshine
Pouring light
on last night's mildew.
You used to walk here.
You used to remember.
