once in a while...

assalamu'alaikum...

had two days of school already and it's been quite an experience. =) but it's a change i'm looking forward to. the independence, the need to make new friends, that's what school's all about ain't it? i mean, there's no more such things as having the class rep to get the notes for the class before any lectures. you hafta print it out yourself. homework? check ivle. attend a tutorial? you hafta go and ballot for the tutorial slot yourself and pray it doesn't clash with with other modules. can't decide which modules to take? too bad, no teachers to hand out the timetable to you. you make it yourself and bid for the desired modules. can't get any of the modules you want? you're doomed.

yeah, that's how the system in nus works. pretty scary.. thank God i'm in life science so my life science modules were already settled and arranged. budak2 arts rabak. suma kena bid sendiri. BUT i foresee myself going over to the arts faculty very often, and no, it's not to see you-know-who, but because science fac is SOOO 'happening' la.. seriously i can die of boredom there.

i'm supposed to meet my ex-colleagues and kids at clementi swimming pool today but i think i'll just go down to the school on firday instead. i MISSSSS them banyak2. i love my kids. i seriously do. i miss telling them stories, making them cry.. muahahah. can you imagine how funny it is to see a kid cry just by threatening him, "i call john ah... (john saper entah)... JOHN TRAVOLTA!!.. *pretends to dial* hello john? john, please come down to this school and take this boy away..!!" and the boy would just cryyyy.. hahahaha. me and one of my ex-colleague are experts in making this threat. gahaha. rabakkks. alah, jahat jahat ler, asalkan happy. ouh, i really miss them...

anyway, speaking of kids, i had the opportunity to teach a class at aljunied and there was an autistic boy in my class. i found that a very interesting experience because autistic children do not know how to socialise. autism renders a person unable to have the apt social skills needed to blend or interact with others. so this boy sat alone and didn't make contact with his friends. but it was interesting because he's so smart. now, not all autistic people are smart - only 10% have iq above average but the rest are usually below average. it was funny because while i was teaching, he'd be chanting at the top of his lungs, "20.. T-W-E-...." but at then end of the day, he actually held my hand while telling me the life cycle of a butterfly. sooooo cute... pipi punyalah montel. and he calls himself abang. "ahh.. ibu abang cakap abang jadi ustadz" *giggle* how adorable =)

speaking of montel, remember how i used to be suuuuper scared of cats. well, now not anymore. hahaha. thanks to.... tutoring my niece!!! haha, my niece is NOT a cat btw.. (???) no la, her house has like 986455 cats so after a while i just go so used to the cats i don't have any qualms now about cuddling up to this super fat cute cat i aptly-nicknamed GEMUK. and gemuk is so cute, she likes pink! haha, so bimbotic. i stll rmemebr how i used to squeal everytime any of the cats so much as touch me, and now i'm in love with gemuk. ;)

you know, i'm starting to wonder if i should work with children in the future. i love working at the kindergarten but sad to say, they don't pay much. i would love to be a special education teacher teaching kids with behavourial or learning disabilities, but i'll be graduating with a science degree, not child psychology. i know, i know, you-know-who once grilled me about the things i wanna do in life. and it's true i find it exciting to be working in a lab, pretending to be a csi investigator (like reallll...), but who would i talk to? the e. coli? the agar gel? my bacteria culture? haha. never mind la. i'm sure i've chosen this path for a reason. i'm sure Allah has his reasons =)

till we meet again (and this quite a berjela-jela entry eh?). wassalam.
