raincheck

my unfinished poem is complete, at last =)

If this heart were to speak
It would take the warmth
Of the summer sky
Nights would be without stars,
And stranded fisherman
Forced to shore

If these eyes were to weep
It would dry up the river
Nile of its entity
It would steal the bejeweled
Crowns of maharajahs
While beneath the black
Of the night sky,
The magpies start to sing

But by what sin of nature or man and his pride
Would such speech and weeping due?
With eyes so innocent and heart so gentle
Could ever hide pain and sadness true?
Alas, joy and sorrow often collide
Tis life’s everlasting battle

Futile should the world
Empty its contents
To hear but one heart speak
Its beauty renders us to relent
And behold, O how God made us weak

Still, that which threatens your heart of gold
That milks your tear ducts so…
This soul would pine to know
Perchance, the battle of joy and sorrow
Would find us a common foe

Hence refrain emptying the river Nile
When emptying is for your fears
Thus shall I halt this poem a while
For whatever emptiness that cause you strife
Let me fill with my humble cheers
