doctor suliyati?
oooh... we went to nus' open house today!!! [ok, honestly, i don't know what the exclamation marks are for; i'm not even excited]
first stop was the medical seminar held by mendaki. the speakers were malay/muslim doctors who were invited to tell people that hey! malays CAN make it as doctors too. and most of the malay girls who take medicine in nus wear tudung, so who says that being religious and clever at the same time cannot mix? in fact, i was quite surprised to know that adzfar's sister [the children of mr alami musa] is in the medicine faculty in her fourth year. i didn't even know he has a sister. damn, she's smart. and pretty.
so, in order to be a doctor, you have to have a good A-level pass in chemistry and biology or physics. but, each year there are about 3000-plus applicants, and then around 500 students will be shortlisted for interviews and this will be narrowed down to 250-plus. and most of these 3000-plus students who apply for medicine are prolly students who get 4As and an A1 for GP, so yeah... it's ok. always keep your optimism high.
anyways, we also went to tinjau-tinjau the faculty of science. and life sciences sound sooo interesting! we can choose to go into molecular/cell biology or biomedicine. so after my A-Levels, i'd prolly choose these courses:
1. medicine
2. life sciences
3. law
4. psychology
that is IF my results are good enough. i mean it would be nice to be a doctor or a scientist/researcher. imagine - how many people's lives would be directly made better by what you do in your daily life?
